Visualization of Jacques Lacan’s Registers of the Psychoanalytic Field, and Discovery of Metaphor and of Metonymy. Analytical Case Study of Edgar All…
2017
International audience; We start with a description of Lacan’s work that we then take into our analytics methodology. In a first investigation, a Lacan-motivated template of the Poe story is fitted to the data. A segmentation of the storyline is used in order to map out the diachrony. Based on this, it will be shown how synchronous aspects, potentially related to Lacanian registers, can be sought. This demonstrates the effectiveness of an approach based on a model template of the storyline narrative. In a second and more comprehensive investigation, we develop an approach for revealing, that is, uncovering, Lacanian register relationships. Objectives of this work include the wide and genera…

MULTI-SCALE ANALYSIS OF LUNG COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IMAGES
2007
A computer-aided detection (CAD) system for the identification of lung internal nodules in low-dose multi-detector helical Computed Tomography (CT) images was developed in the framework of the MAGIC-5 project. The three modules of our lung CAD system, a segmentation algorithm for lung internal region identification, a multi-scale dot-enhancement filter for nodule candidate selection and a multi-scale neural technique for false positive finding reduction, are described. The results obtained on a dataset of low-dose and thin-slice CT scans are shown in terms of free response receiver operating characteristic (FROC) curves and discussed.
Finite-Time Hâ Filtering for T-S Fuzzy Discrete-Time Systems with Time-Varying Delay and Norm-Bounded Uncertainties
2015
In this paper, we investigate the filtering problem of discrete-time Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy uncertain systems subject to time-varying delays. A reduced-order filter is designed. With the augmentation technique, a filtering error system with delayed states is obtained. In order to deal with time delays in system states, the filtering error system is first transformed into two interconnected subsystems. By using a two-term approximation for the time-varying delay, sufficient delay-dependent conditions of finite-time boundedness and $H_{\infty }$ performance of the filtering error system are derived with the Lyapunov function. Based on these conditions, the filter design methods are propose…
Robust H∞ synchronization of a hyper-chaotic system with disturbance input
2013
Abstract This paper concerns the robust control problems on the synchronization of a hyper-chaotic system with disturbance input. Using an appropriate Lyapunov function, we design the multi-dimensional and the single-dimensional robust H ∞ synchronization controllers in terms of linear matrix inequalities for the application in practical engineering. Corresponding theoretical derivations are given subsequently. Finally, some numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.
-Infinity robust controller design for the synchronization of master-slave chaotic systems with disturbance input
2012
Published version of an article from the journal: Modeling, Identification and Control. Also available from the publisher: http://dx.doi.org/10.4173/mic.2012.1.3 This paper is concerned with the robust control problems for the synchronization of master-slave chaotic systems with disturbance input. By constructing a series of Lyapunov functions, novel H1 robust syn- chronization controllers are designed, whose control regulation possess the characteristic of simpleness and explicitness. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the e ectiveness of the proposed techniques.
An LMI approach to vibration control of base-isolated building structures with delayed measurements
2010
In this article, we address a convex optimisation approach to the problem of state-feedback H∞ control design for vibration reduction of base-isolated building structures with delayed measurements, where the delays are time-varying and bounded. An appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and some free-weighting matrices are utilised to establish some delay-range-dependent sufficient conditions for the design of desired controllers in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The controller, which guarantees asymptotic stability and an H∞ performance, simultaneously, for the closed-loop system of the structure, is then developed. The performance of the controller is evaluated by means of simula…
Impact of intravascular enhancement, heart rate, and calcium score on diagnostic accuracy in multislice computed tomography coronary angiography.
2005
PURPOSE: To assess the effect of intravascular enhancement, heart rate, and calcium score on diagnostic accuracy in the detection of significant coronary artery stenosis using 16-row multislice computed tomography (MSCT). MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred patients (88 males; 59+/-11 years) with suspected coronary artery disease who had undergone conventional coronary angiography (CA) and MSCT-CA were retrospectively enrolled for the study. Patients underwent a MSCT-CA, with the following protocol: collimation 16x0.75 mm, gantry rotation time 420 ms, feed/rotation 2.8 mm, kV 120, mAs 400-500. The protocol for contrast material administration was 100 ml of Iodixanol 320 mgI/ml at 4 ml/s and …
RNAPol-ChIP: a novel application of chromatin immunoprecipitation to the analysis of real-time gene transcription.
2004
We describe a procedure, RNAPol-ChIP, to measure actual transcriptional rate. It consists of the detection, by chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), of RNA polymerase II within the coding region of genes. To do this, the DNA immunoprecipitated with polymerase antibodies is analysed by PCR, using an amplicon well within the coding region of the desired genes to avoid interferences with polymerase paused at the promoter. To validate RNAPol-ChIP, we compare our results to those obtained by classical methods in several genes induced during either liver regeneration or acute pancreatitis. When short half-life mRNA genes are studied (e.g. c-fos and egr1), RNAPol-ChIP gives results similar to thos…
Construct validity of the anxiety sensitivity index-3 in clinical samples
2012
"Using two clinical samples of patients, the presented studies examined the construct validity of the recently revised Anxiety Sensitivity Index-3 (ASI-3). Confirmatory factor analyses established a clear three-factor structure that corresponds to the postulated subdivision of the construct into correlated somatic, social, and cognitive components. Participants with different primary clinical diagnoses differed from each other on the ASI-3 subscales in theoretically meaningful ways. Specifically, the ASI-3 successfully discriminated patients with anxiety disorders from patients with nonanxiety disorders. Moreover, patients with panic disorder or agoraphobia manifested more somatic concerns …
